Abstract
Flight test instrumentation (FTI) have long sought to benefit from the bandwidth, scalability, and low cost of Ethernet networks and Internet Protocol (IP) based systems. Merging video and imaging cameras in the next generation FTI networks will require new methods and protocols to enhance data movement and recording and for time coherency of data. This paper will address the system and performance of the video encoding and decoding components, and various network performance issues, and the vision for deploying camera and FTI equipment in the same Ethernet network.
