Abstract
Hydrogel sensors allow the direct and selective measurement of chemical concentrations of substanc-es in process liquids. Their application in industrial processes requires new solutions for reliable sen-sors with high measurement accuracy and response times of less than one minute. The presented innovative sensor solution is based on a piezo-electric thickness shear resonator (TSR) with hydrogel as sensitive coating. Its optimized design was derived from the investigation of the interrelation of hydrogel properties, the manufacturing technology, the sensor structure and the processing of the measured data. The innovative sensor with the developed portable measuring de-vice was successfully tested under process conditions.
