Abstract
A large penetration depth of an evanescent wave is the key to success for developing fiber-optic evanescent field sensors. A tapered optical fiber was fabricated through chemical etching method by HF acid. The penetration depth of an optical fiber, stripped off its cladding, is related to the wavelength of incident light, the refractive index of the surrounding medium and the incident angle. Molecular imprinted polymer is used to synthesis the Testosterone receptor which acts as a sorbent material to detect the derivatives of TES. The increase in TES absorption leads to change in refractive index, considerably varying the output intensity of the optical fiber.
