Abstract
The soil moisture and the hydraulic properties of a soil matrix can only be characterized with consider-able effort. Soil moisture is usually measured at specific points using moisture sensors, but a detailed spatial distribution of soil moisture cannot be derived from this. In order to achieve a comprehensive analysis of soil properties in 2D or 3D, a system for electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) or electri-cal impedance tomography (EIT) is presented, which is designed for field use.
